Lots of people that visit the shop or that I speak to online mention how the love to make or would love to make things but don’t have the time. Don’t worry at The Studio Shop we are here to help. Before Christmas we held our first ever Studio Session with the festive season and lack of time in mind. So to follow up next week we are holding the next session. Whether you want to make something for a loved one, or something just for you our Valentines inspired session is going to be a fast and fab crafty night. Learn 4 skills in one evening with a glass of bubbly to help the creativity flow. Spaces still available if you fancy a fun and informal night.
Happy New Year
I hope you have all been enjoying the festive season. Its been a busy old time at the Studio Shop but we are now planning for the year ahead with lots of changes, new designs, events and courses on the way.

Its Show Time!
Oh we all love a fashion show at The Studio Shop especially if its in aid of a good cause. Thanks again for all who attended our charity fashion show last week. Money raised goes not only to a local and international charity but also to our local schools for the art and design department, to keep the next generation of design talent in materials:)

Back to school
Here at the studio shop we are more than a little bit sad as our littlest member of staff is starting her grown up life at Uni this term in Edinburgh. Hannah is the most organised, sensible and tidy of the crew. So goodness knows how we will cope without her! Good luck and we miss you Han!

Belladrum
Well thats me just back from the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival. This year I was taking part in the Ciao Bella fashion tent which showed collections from Scottish designers including Henrietta Ludgate, Judy R Clark & Harris Tweed. I took the opportunity to launch the new knit range (more images coming soon).
I highly recommend Belladrum, the whole family made the trip and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the weekend.

A little history lesson…..
As part of the tall ships celebrations each retail premises was asked to give a display of the history of their shop over the past 200 years. So after a trip down to the archives and talking to local historians I found out that The Studio shop was originally part of the Imperial Hotel. And the original plans show that the shop area was in fact the bar!
After the era of the hotel the building was home to the education department before being bought by the Reids in the 70s and broken down into retails outlets, offices and flats. The building is now home to The Studio shop, Solveig Beauty, The Herald Print Shop, The Barber Shop and Feel Fantastic health & Beauty. Very handy neighbours to have.
